Just a few days ago, a Travis High School teacher in Austin, TX was arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a student in his class. Teacher, Allen Cole, officially resigned from the school and was arrested later that day. Cole met with his criminal lawyer in Austin and is currently being charged with a second degree felony.
Texas state law says it is unlawful to have a sexual relationship with any student no matter the age of the student. Although the 18 year old student was legally an adult, it still violates state law and he will be charged to the fullest extent. The female student has spoken with police stating that they had had some type of sexual relations with each other on several different occasions. She also said that these events always took place at the teacher’s apartment.
Police said that the student told a friend and through word of mouth it eventually got back to some administrators who immediately went to the police.
