Richard Geyer, a software consultant from Austin, Texas was sentenced to 12 years in prison after it was reported that he had had sex with a 15-year-old girl. Geyer reportedly traveled to West Bend on several occasions to meet with the girl.
The judge charged him with sexual assault on a child and one count of child enticement. The judge called him “every parent’s nightmare.” The girl’s parents reported Geyer to the police after they found out about the relationship. They had apparently been meeting for months, after they had met on the Internet in a chat room.
Geyer, a father of three children himself, was taken immediately into custody, as the judge refused to agree to his attorney’s plea to allow two weeks for Geyer to get his things into order. It’s sad that such a thing still occurs, but that’s why the legal system is still in place.
